India hardly able to escape the Windies victory by staying 242 for 9 at the end of the play.

This was an unprecedented outcome occurred at the Wankhede Stadium, as for just the second time in history, a Test match ended in a draw with the scores tied, following an incredibly dramatic day of play.

As the match entered its final stages with just ten overs left, India seemed to have a firm grip on the game – they were 42 runs away from victory with Kohli and Ashwin at the bat, both of whom were riding high on confidence after a strong performance on the fourth day and having secured their spots for the tour of Australia earlier on the fifth. The duo brought India close to their target, needing only 19 more runs for victory, but the game took a dramatic turn when Kohli mishit a catch and it was caught by a limping Darren Sammy at gully. This can happen if the match is called off due to bad weather or other reasons, or if the match goes the full allotted time and the teams have not completed all their innings.
