If we exclude 1 exclusive team and match of ICC World XI, there are 12 countries which played test cricket till now. But there is only one country which has played more than 1000 test matches and that is England.
There are only 2 instances of teams scoring more than 900 runs in an inning. First time it is achieved by England against Australia in Aug 1938, when they scored 903 runs for 7 wickets in their first inning. Second and last (till date) 900 plus score is recorded by Sri Lanka against India, when they scored 952 runs for 6 wickets in their first inning.
England facing the target of 696 to win the match, played brilliantly in their second innings and reached to the score of 654 for 5 wickets. They not only saved the match but also scored the highest inning total in 4th inning which is still a record.
In the 2nd Test Match against West Indies at Port of Spain, in 1986 England scored 315 Runs in their 2nd Innings. The interesting thing is no English batsman scored even a fifty in that inning and this is still the Most Runs Without An Individual Fifty in any test inning.
